Discover DeX

With Samsung DeX, you can turn any place into a workplace. The DeX dock enables you to connect your Galaxy S8/S8+ to a monitor, keyboard and mouse for a desktop experience powered by your phone. Just plug your phone into the DeX Station to use apps, review documents, and set or check notifications on a desktop interface. The same emails, photos and files on your phone are now more accessible in a desktop environment.

Overview

Reports show that 74% of IT workers use two or more devices for work, and 52% used three or more. This increasing fragmentation causes lost productivity. Samsung solves this problem with Samsung DeX and brings the desktop experience to Android.

Samsung DeX-compatible apps use the features offered in Samsung DeX Mode. This robust, multi-tasking environment encourages users—and provides them with the technical capacity—to adopt Android as a primary ecosystem for any task: word processing, photo editing, games, and more. Samsung DeX can launch apps that aren't modified to be compatible with Samsung DeX, but these apps operate in a fixed-size window mode with limited functionality.

As of June 2017, approximately 20% of the apps in the Samsung Apps store are compatible with DeX and work well with the keyboard feature. The following table shows just some of the apps that work and play well in DeX mode:

Productive

Apps in Samsung DeX take advantage of Android N multi-window features. Multiple instances of an app can be opened simultaneously and resized dynamically. This allows users to work, connect, and interact seamlessly with different apps.

Immersive

Apps launched in desktop mode can be expanded into a full-screen, immersive window. DeX can showcase the full features of an app without the expense of screen real estate.

Innovative

Samsung DeX-compatible apps add powerful features to the mobile experience, such as the ability to drag and drop files between windows, copy and paste between multiple apps, use ALT+ TAB, and more.
