Marketing Your Apps outside Galaxy Apps

Samsung helps you promote your app (Android app or Gear app) or Theme product (theme, wallpaper, icon pack), or Edge panel via your marketing channels (for example, websites, social media, and email).

This section presents the highlights of promotions outside Galaxy Apps.  For details (such as graphic image and video requirements), see Marketing Your Apps outside Galaxy Apps the section.

Galaxy Apps Badge Promotion

To advertise your apps and products in marketing campaigns, websites, emails, and social channels, you can display a Galaxy Apps badge icon that deep hyperlinks to your app or product detail page in the Galaxy Apps store.

  1. Download both Galaxy Apps badge icons by clicking their images below.

  2. In your advertising channels and materials:
    1. Insert the appropriate badge icon.
    2. To make the icon image deep hyperlink to your app's product detail page, see the Deeplink section below.

App and Product Images

You can use images to promote your apps and products via your advertising channels (for example, via websites, email, and social media).  Images can be screenshots, either standalone screenshots or screenshots overlaid on top of a Samsung device image (available from the Samsung Mobile Press Images, http://www.samsungmobilepress.com/).

NOTE:  You can now download the latest Galaxy S8 device images.

Deeplink Usage

You can add a deep hyperlink to your websites, your marketing channels and media, and your app or product code in order to promote your app or product available in Galaxy Apps. Typically, deeplinks point to your app or product detail page in the Galaxy Apps store, where your customers can review, purchase, and download your app or product.  However, where a deeplink actually leads to depends on the type of deeplink you use and the user's device.  When a Samsung smartphone user follows either type ofdeeplink, they are taken to your app product detail page.  deeplink actually leads to depends on the type of deeplink you use and the user's device.  When a Samsung smartphone user follows either type ofdeeplink, they are taken to your app product detail page.

For more details, see the  Samsung Galaxy Apps Deeplink Guide / (Seller)_Galaxy_Apps_Interworking_Guide ( http://developer.samsung.com/technical-doc/view.do?v=T000000076).

You can use 2 types of deeplinks:

  • HTTP deeplink for marketing and promotions channels and media deeplink for marketing and promotions channels and media
  • URI deeplink for app or product code deeplink for app or product code

The following are the basic use guidelines:

Samsung Smartphones Devices other than Samsung Smartphones

HTTP Deeplink

App or product detail page

www.samsung.com  (or a regional variant)

URI Deeplink App or product detail page Risky

In both scenarios above, your users may be presented with popups in which they can choose to follow or not follow to get to a deeplink target.

HTTP Deeplinks for Promotional Channels and Material

You can insert HTTP deeplinks in your promotional channels and material to allow your customers to go to your product detail page.  The structure of HTTP deeplinks depends on your app or product type being linked to.

You can insert URI deeplink code in your deeplink code in your apps and products to allow your users to go to your product detail pages (for example, for your entire product line).  The structure of URI deeplinks depends on your app or product type being linked to (not the type of app or product that the deeplink is being inserted into).

Download Promotion

You register the following via Seller Office and promote them outside the Galaxy Apps store.  Your customers benefit when they purchase or download your apps and products.

Download Discounts

For your commercial (paid) apps and products that are being distributed, you can set 1 or more price discounts for your customers to download your app.  You can set a discount percentage to apply  to 1 or more countries that your app is being distributed to.  You can also set a lower price for individual distribution countries.   For each distribution country where users can pay by phone bill, you can choose whether or not to apply a discount to the phone bill price.   For all types of discount, you specify the time period that your discount applies.

For more details, see the Registering, Reviewing, and Managing Commercial Service App Discount section.

Download Coupon Codes

For your commercial (paid) apps and products that are being distributed, you can generate and issue coupon codes to your customers that enable them to download your app without paying during the on-line transaction.  You can generate up to 1000 unique codes for each distribution country you select.  You can issue a code to a customer in any way you choose.  For example, you could issue codes: free of charge, for a lower price than your app's full download price, or as part of a paid-for promotional package.

NOTE:  You must manage the issuing of coupon codes.

You can activate coupon code redemption starting at any future date you specify.  While coupon code redemption is active, your customers enter their code during your app's purchase / download transaction.  Code redemption remains active until either: all of the issued coupon codes have been redeemed, a redemption ending date you specify has been reached (up to 28 days after the starting date), or you terminate the coupon code redemption before the ending date.

For more details, see the Registering, Reviewing, and Managing Commercial Service App Coupons section.
