RN-Integrated Application Management Overview

This section presents a high-level overview of how to integrate the Rich Notification API into your Android™ application to enable sending rich notifications to a connected remote wearable Samsung Gear device, to manage rich notifications (such as updating and deleting them), and how to manage the distribution of your RN-integrated app.

After integrating Rich Notification functionality, you can freely or commercially distribute your Android app via the Samsung Galaxy Apps Store and/or other app stores (such as via Google Play™).  Your Android app can also sell commercial in-app items.

NOTE:   Your integration of Rich Notification functionality is completely independent of the registration, certification, distribution, and management described in this section.

Distribution via the Samsung Seller Office and Galaxy Apps Store

After development, and registration and certification via Samsung Seller Office, your Android app will be distributed via the Samsung Galaxy Apps Store and you can then manage its distribution, sales, promotions, and finances via Samsung Seller Office.

To develop, distribute, and manage your Rich Notification integrated app:

  1. Develop your RN-integrated Android app:
    • Ensure your app (and if applicable, their in-app items ) meet Samsung certification requirements.
For details, see Seller Office Application Certification.
    • Set up your development environment.
NOTE: The Android device must be properly set up to send rich notifications to Gear devices.
    • Integrate Rich Notification API calls into your Android app.
    • When selling commercial items from within your freely or commercially distributed app, integrate Samsung In-App Purchase functionality via the most suitable type of integration:

        For details, see Seller Office.
        • To freely distribute an app that does not sell commercial items, you need either a free or commercial account.
        • To freely distribute an app that does sell commercial items, you need a commercial account.
        • To commercially distribute an app, whether or not it sells commercial items, you need a commercial account.

    • Register your app and its binary file(s) (even though they are in development) with Samsung Seller Office,

Distribution via the Google Play Store

When publishing your Rich Notification-integrated application in the Google Play Store, include the keyword Gear_Rich_Notifications in the description field of the application registration page.
