Look Edge UX

Using Look Edge SDK, you can implement and design Edge Single Plus panels that allow your users to access your apps easily. Users with Samsung Edge devices can download and use your Edge apps.

The following illustration shows Edge Panel categories.

Quick_EdgePanels.PNG

Edge panels provide glanceable and actionable information:

  • Items specified by your app
  • Items selected by your users, such as favorite app or contacts, which users can add, move, and delete
  • Text, such as labels
  • Information icons, such as weather symbols
  • Content streams, such as news, sports, and ticker information
  • Click events, such as app icons or text buttons

Edge can automatically refresh item content:

  • Before the Edge panel is going to be displayed.
  • In Edge configuration, when your users add or move panel items.
  • Periodically, as per your app configuration.

Your app can refresh panel item content any time, as needed.

After users download your Edge panel or feed standalone app, or download your app with an Edge Immersive panel, the Samsung device manages the operation and UX of your Edge screens, such as opening, closing, and managing Edge content item display and actions. Edge panel and feed operation depends on the version of Edge installed on the device and the user's Edge configuration. Your users can control the position of Edge panels or feeds, as well as the position of moveable panel items. Depending on the Edge item content your app specifies for an Edge panel, your users can control Edge item content, for example, their frequently used apps or frequent contacts3.

To provide your users with Edge functionality, you can implement the following types of Edge panels and feeds.

Note: Only one type of Edge app (Edge Single Plus panel, Edge Single, Edge Feed, or Edge Immersive) can be implemented in an Edge app or Edge-integrated app.

Independent Edge Panels and Feeds

Independent edge panels and feeds operate independently of the device platform and any app running in the main screen.
