Binary Files

Review and/or change service app binary files

Note: Binary filenames:

  • Must be unique among all binary files registered to the service app. 
  • Must not contain spaces or special characters, but can contain underscores. 

For 1 to 10 Android platform service app binary files:

Binary *

For each binary file (maximum: 10) that makes up the service app:

1)  Click Add binary

2)  In the Add binary popup, enter the following:
 

Resolutions(s) *

One or more video resolutions supported by the service app:

Check All          Service app supports all listed resolutions.

[Resolution]   Service app supports the checked resolutions.

The setting can be changed without uploading a later binary version.

Google Mobile Service *

Whether or not the service app provides the user with any Google™ services (such as Google Maps™, Gmail™, and Talk):

Yes       The service app does provide Google services.

No        The service app does not provide any Google services.

The setting can be changed for the current binary version.

Note: The distribution of service apps that provide the user with any Google services is prohibited in some countries (such as China) and will be automatically enforced by Seller Office.

Binary Upload *

Binary file of the service app

Click Upload, and navigate to and select the file, and click Open.

  1. Click Add binary or Add more binary
  2. Review and/or change the required information and upload the binary file(s):
  3. Click Save.
  4. For each additional binary file, repeat the registration and upload process.

For 1 to 10 Gear platform service app binary files:

Note: Different binary files can be compatible with multiple devices.

Gear App Type *

Kind of Tizen™ platform service app that runs on a Gear (remote) device:

Standalone:        The remote service app is NOT associated with an Android service app running on a host device.

Companion:        The remote service app IS associated with an Android service app running on a host device
                                  (for example, the remote and host service apps synchronize data and exchange messages).

(Wearable):          Host‑side application.

Caution: After saving, the Gear App Type cannot be changed by updating binary files.  Gear App Type can be changed by 1) terminating the service app after it has been certified, and 2) re‑registering the service app.  However, the current service app information will be deleted.

Binary *

For each binary file that makes up the service app:

1)  Click Add binary.

2)  In the Add binary popup, enter the following:

Note: ALL binary files must support the specified Gear app type.

Gear Resolution(s) *

 

 

 

One or more types of video resolutions supported by the service app:

Check All         Service app supports all listed resolutions.

[Resolution]   Service app supports checked resolutions.

The setting can be changed without uploading a later binary version.

Google Mobile Service *

Whether or not the service app provides any Google services (such as Google Map, Gmail, and Talk)

Yes       The service app does provide Google services.

No        The service app does not provide any Google services.

The setting can be changed without uploading a later binary version.

Note: The distribution of service apps containing some Google services are prohibited in some countries (such as China) and will be automatically excluded from those countries.

 

Binary Upload *

Binary file of the service app

Click Upload, navigate to and select the binary file, and click Open.

If file uploading is interrupted, the same file can be reuploaded, after clicking Yes in a Continue from the previous upload popup and continuing from the previous upload.

 
  1. Click Add binary or Add more binary.
  2. Enter the required information and upload the component binary file(s):
  3. Click Save.
  4. For each additional binary file, repeat the registration and upload process.
  5. Review the information about the added binary file(s):

    No

    Index number assigned to the binary file based on order of adding files

    Version

    Latest version code and name of the binary file

    File Name

    Filename, number of bytes, and status of binary file processing:

    Registering:            The file has been changed OR it is currently being registered.

    In registration:        The file has failed or completed certification OR its free/commercial status has been changed

    Pre-certification:    The file is undergoing Samsung pre-certification.

    Certification:           The file is undergoing Samsung certification.

    Rejected:                 The file has failed certification or cannot be certified.

    Passed:                    The file has successfully completed certification.

    On sale:                   The file is currently being distributed (freely or commercially) OR the file is NOT being distributed and is waiting for the specified Selling Start date to start being distributed.

    Device

    Number of devices that are compatible with the binary file AND are currently being distributed in the Samsung Galaxy Apps Store

    The number of the selected device(s) is the sum of device(s) set to all binaries in the same application.

    Modify

    Icon button to change info and upload a later version of the binary file

    Delete

    Icon button to permanently remove the binary file

    1. Review the basic information about the files:
    2. To review and change the selection for distribution in the Galaxy Apps Store of devices that are compatible with each registered service app binary file:
      1. Click Switch to Advanced Mode
      2. Click Selected Device(s)

      3. In the Detailed Device Settings popup:
        Note: Upon initial display, the popup shows the current status of each device. For Gear service apps, Gear devices are listed in the Virtual Device Group.

        device(s) has (have) been selected

        When the popup was initially displayed, the total number of devices that are compatible with one or more service app binary files AND are selected for distribution in the Galaxy Apps Store.

        Changes are not indicated until after the popup is saved and closed.

        [Binary Number]

        Mouse-over the number to display the binary filename.

        On Sale checkmark indicates the binary file is currently being distributed in the Galaxy Apps Store.

        Check All

        Selects/UNselects all devices in all groups for distribution, whether their group is expanded or collapsed.

        For select/UNselect details, see the [Device listing] field below.

        [Group Title Bar]

        Expands/collapse the list of devices in the group type.

        For each listed device/binary file combination, the status of compatibility and distribution of the binary to the device in the Galaxy Apps Store:

        No checkbox:               The device is NOT compatible with the binary, which cannot be selected for distribution.

        Empty checkbox:         The device is compatible with the binary, which is NOT selected for distribution.

        Red checkmark:           The device is compatible with the binary, which IS selected for distribution, BUT is NOT currently being distributed.

        On Sale checkmark:     The device is compatible with the binary, which is selected for distribution, AND is currently being distributed.

        Note: Each listed device is compatible with at least one binary file.

        1. Review the device/binary file compatibility and device distribution information:
        2. To change the distribution status of a device, click [Binary file/device checkbox].
          Note: Duplicate devices discovered when verifying service app titles cannot be selected.
        3. To register the changes made and close the popup, click Save.
        4. Do NOT register any changes made and close the popup, click Cancel.
        5. To determine what specific features make a device NOT compatible with a binary file:
          1. Click Switch to Advanced Mode.
          2. Click Non-recommended Device(s).

          3. In the Check compatibility of non-recommended devices popup:

            [Left field]

            Type of device to be checked

            [Center field]

            Specific device within the selected type to be checked

            Select binary

            Registered binary file to be checked

            [Feature List]

             

            The features supported by the device AND the features specified in the binary file

            [Device Line]           For each listed feature, whether or not the device supports the feature.

            [Binary File Line]    For each listed feature:

            [Red text]    How the binary file is NOT compatible with the feature.

            [No text]      The binary file is compatible with the feature.

            Resolution

            Video resolution information

            [Device Line]           Video resolution(s) supported by the device.

            [Binary File Line]    Video resolution(s) NOT supported by the binary file that are supported by the device.

            1. Select the following:
            2. Click Confirm.
            3. Review the device compatibility information:
            4. Click Close.
  6. To distribute your service app to a device group:
    1. In the Check compatibility of non-recommended devices popup, note how the service app binary file(s) are not compatible with the devices in the group.
    2. Make the necessary changes to make the service app binary file(s) compatible.
    3. Upload the new file(s).
    4. In the Detailed Device Settings popup, ensure the device is selected.
  7. To review detailed information about a file:

    Version Code

    Integer value that represents the version of the service app code in the binary file relative to other versions

    Version Name

    String value that represents the release version of the service app code in the binary file, for display to others

    Updated

    Local time (in local format) that the binary file was last registered

    Device Recommendation Information

    General information about the binary file:

    Package Name              Title name of the Android binary file

    Package ID                     Unique IDentifier of the Gear binary file

    API (minSdkVersion)   Lowest Android API level that the binary file is compatible with.

    API (maxSdkVersion)  Highest Android API level that the binary file is compatible with

    Note: Android API level identifies the framework API revision offered by – but is NOT – the Android version number.

    [Device Feature]           Whether the binary file supports/uses the following device features as stated (green checkmark) OR does not as stated (no checkmark)

    Galaxy Specials Information
    (Android binary files only)

    Whether the binary file has integrated each Galaxy Special SDK (green check mark) OR has not integrated the (no check mark):

    Samsung Developer SDK                      Samsung IAP SDK

    S Pen SDK                                                Group Play SDK

    S Health SDK                                       Smart Connectivity SDK

    Additional Information

    Whether the binary file supports/provides the following as stated (green check mark) OR does not (no check mark):

    VOIP                                       The file supports VoIP.

    Google Mobile Service       The file provides Google mobile services to users.

    Resolution(s) (Android binary files only)

    Video resolutions supported by the binary file

    Gear Resolution(s) (Gear binary files only)

    Video resolutions supported by the binary file

    1. Click Switch to Advanced Mode
    2. Click [File's version ID, number, or name]

    3. Review the detailed information:
  8. To hide the details, click [File's version ID, number, or name].
  9. To change information about the current version or upload a later version of an added binary file:
    1. Click the file's [Modify Pencil-icon].
    2. In the Add binary popup, change the necessary information and upload a later version of the binary file (Android service app: Step 3.a. above, Gear service app: Step 3.b. above).
  10. To delete an added binary file:
    1. Click the file's [Delete X-icon].
    2. In the Notice popup, click Yes.
    3. Click Save.
