The modified Open In-App Billing (OpenIAB) Library extends OpenIAB purchasing and billing transaction management by relying on Samsung In-App Purchase (IAP) 3.0, including its latest features:
- Auto-recurring subscriptions support: You can sell in-app items every month with automatically recurring billing.
- Easier service app identification: Identification is based on the service app package name instead of a 12-digit item group ID.
- Custom commercial item ID support: Commercial item IDs can be conveniently managed and identified using a custom item name instead of a 12-digit product item ID.
- Faster lists of user-purchased items: Client-side caching allows faster retrieval of a list of user-purchased items for a specified item ID.
The open source OpenIAB Library enables you to reduce turnaround time to integrate in-app billing and purchasing functionality and is a common interface for the mobile Android OS platform.
The OpenIAB Library allows you to create a single APK for your service apps that will work in all app stores and automatically use the right in-app purchase API for each store. OpenIAB also provides an open in-app billing API that app stores can implement to support all the built APK files using the library.
By integrating OpenIAB Library API calls into service app logic and code, you can distribute your service app through different OpenIAB-compliant stores; for example, Galaxy Apps and Google Play™ store, and their associated systems for commercial purchasing, billing, and management. The OpenIAB Library provides you with a way to develop apps in one APK that can work in all the stores.
When your service app integrates OpenIAB API calls and selects Samsung Galaxy Apps as the current app store, the following components are used:
|Samsung Galaxy Apps Store||Service app distribution (either free or commercial distribution)|
|Samsung In-App Purchase (IAP)||Commercial item purchasing and listing functionality|
|Samsung Galaxy Apps Seller Office||UI management (including service app and commercial item registration, price management, distribution and sales management, and financial accounting)|
|Samsung Billing||Fundamental support for purchasing, billing, and financial accounting|
Samsung IAP functionality through the OpenIAB API makes it possible for you to sell virtual items, services, and subscriptions from within Android service apps that are either freely or commercially distributed through the Samsung Galaxy Apps Store.
